Creepy, insulting letter I received from a scam-artist training company that poses as a recruiter on job search sites:

Hello [my name],

We had an appointment set up to discuss our programs, IT opportunities and helping you get employed. You showed up in jeans and said that you were only interested in talking with me if our meeting was an interview and then you left. You did not wish to discuss how I can help you with those interviews. Since our brief encounter, you resume has been forward to me several times.

You appear to be applying for positions that you are not qualified or certified to obtain. You did not wish to have interviews with any employers in the area, yet you continue to apply. I am confused and would like to assist you. Please help me understand what it is you wish to accomplish.

Regards,

...and my response:

Dude, I am not applying to positions because I want anything to do with New Horizons. I'm applying to jobs I want. I don't know how you're getting my resumes, but they're not intended for you. I showed up in jeans because I was instructed to dress casually. If not for that instruction, I would've been in a dress coat and slacks. I came to that "interview" because your company led me to believe it was a job opportunity. It was not, so I left. I told you I have no interest in your services, and I certainly don't give a damn that you think I'm "unqualified" for jobs I am applying for. I hope you aren't telling potential employers to ignore my applications.

Furthermore, I expect you to cease communications with me immediately. If you continue to contact me simply to sell your services by telling me I'm "unqualified," you will be in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act.

If you happen to receive any more of my "forwarded" resumes, ignore them. They are not meant for you.

...Is there anything else I should do, here? I mean, they basically told me that they're tracking my job-hunt process by having my resume "forwarded" to them when I apply for jobs online. That's some seriously sketchy shit and I do not consent to it; but how can I look for a job without this happening? Every job search site has a TOS, and I'm sure that TOS allows them to communicate with their "partners." My only other option, really, is Craig's List or cold calls (hah!).

Also, I didn't show up looking like a slob, as the letter implied. The "jeans" I wore were not blue jeans, they were tasteful grey women's jeans from Kohl's, and my shirt was a simple, dark-green longsleeve. Business casual, nothing trashy, as their letter subtly and very insultingly implies.

What bullies. Steer clear of this company if you ever see it.
